Uptown gets its first free roaming dog park

Kari StrongThat is right, Frazier Park opened its dog park yesterday making current and future Uptown dog owners (and their furry friends) smile. Located at 1201 West 4th Street, Frazier Park is nearly 12 acres in size. It not only offers a dog park, but also soccer fields, tennis courts, basketball courts, a community garden and playgrounds for children.
Also, since last month Mecklenburg County eliminated all fees and passes required to use its dog parks, all dog owners are free to enjoy this $50,000 addition. For more information on Frazier Park or any other dog park in Mecklenburg County visit the Park and Recreation website.

Home Buyer Tax Credit

The Housing and Economy Recovery Act of 2008 is offering great incentives for home buyers these days.  One significant benefit is a repayable first-time home-buyer tax credit.  Through the home-buyer tax credit, buyers who are purchasing for the first time or who haven’t owned a property in the last three years can now qualify for a tax credit equal to 10% of their home purchase price, up to $7,500.

Other incentives include much needed FHA modernization which aims to adjust loan limits so that they are more in sync with current home values. The bill allows Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to serve more home-buyers by raising loan limits in high cost areas above the standard conforming limit to 115 percent of the median house prices and up to 150 percent of the conforming loan limit.  Want to discuss, e-mail me at chris@cacartergroup.com.

Where is Windsor Park?

Kari StrongI am sure you have heard all the hype about Extreme Makeover Home Addition being in Charlotte and you are asking yourself “Where is Windsor Park anyways?”. Having sold a home there, and several buyer clients looking to move to this neighborhood, I have spent my fair share of time in this neighborhood.
Windsor Park is nestled in East Charlotte between Kilborne Drive and Central Avenue, making it less than 5 miles from Uptown, and about 3 miles to either Plaza-Midwood, or NoDa (the Arts District). Here you will find adorable brick homes built in the 1950’s and 1960’s. Some homes have been completely upgraded with today’s fixtures, while many still have the charm of yesterday’s effects, and nearly all Windsor Park homes having spacious backyards.
With an average list price of around $115,000 for a three bedroom home, you too can affordably live in Windsor Park. If you are interested in learning more about this area, feel free to
