Wall Street Bailout (Q and A for us Taxpayers)

Chris Carter

Q: What is the amount of the bailout and is the American taxpayer ultimately responsible for this amount? A: The bailout cannot exceed $700 billion without further legislation.  Ultimately the taxpayer is responsible for up to $700 billion.  U.S. Treasury will try to re-sell the troubled mortgages to investors, but the bottom line is that this is going to cost taxpayers a great deal of money.

Q: Is it fair to say that Americans that are neither rich nor reckless are being asked to bail out those that are?  A: You could argue that.  But, many say it is far better than no action being taken.

Give me your thoughts on this big issue we as American’s are facing.
